Developing your sewing skills take patience and time. It's not something you learn overnight or in one lesson.
Remember: it's a lifelong skill that takes growth, also while dusting off math skills, fractions, using fine motor skills, and more. It's a full brain hobby, utilizing math, precision, and sometimes, a lot of "fuck! not again! *grabs seam ripper*".
Bagmaking may not be for the faint of heart. But it is incredibly rewarding to wear and use something you've made with your hands. There's nothing like it.
I want everyone to try it and love sewing, but I just want to be clear: this isn't as easy as a paint by number.
Generally speaking you will need:
- well functioning sewing machine
- scissors
- scotch tape or glue
- (rotary cutter recommended)
- cutting ruler
- seam gauge
- awl or something pointy
- fabric pen
- seam ripper
- iron
- thread
- zipper foot/edging foot for machine
- lighter
Thread will not be provided.
Other optional notions, tools: Handmade tag, seam tape, awl, thread cutters, extra lighting, tailors chalk, hot knife
Kits may vary slightly from photos and are subject to change due to nature or sourcing and the entire project.
Note: this side venture of my business is all for my love of recycling and sharing sewing knowledge. I once taught in person sewing classes, and due to life and parenting, that is no longer an option these days. I aim to share all my sewing knowledge and there is no gate keeping. Expect real lessons with valuable skills with an aim for perfection in every seam.
